Adoption Day marks 10 years

By Rick Ruggles

Forty-five children were adopted today during National Adoption Day ceremonies at the Omaha City-County Building.

The event celebrates adoptions and encourages more people to adopt.

Similar ceremonies took place in Council Bluffs, Kearney, Grand Island and Hastings. They will occur in Scottsbluff next month and have already taken place in Lincoln and O'Neill, Neb.

This is the 10th year for National Adoption Day. Omaha was one of the founding cities for the event.
