LORD'S ACRE AUCTION: The Arapahoe (Neb.) First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Lord's Acre Auction today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ella Missing Center. The auction will include handcrafted quilts, home-cooked dinners, furniture, clothing and artwork. The United Methodist Women will serve lunch during the auction. All the proceeds will go to the Arapahoe church.

ST. THOMAS MORE DINNER: St. Thomas More Catholic Church's annual parish dinner is Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria at 48th and Grover Streets. Ham and chicken dinners will be served. The cost for the dinner is $7 for adults and $4 for children. Takeout is available. The menu: choice of ham or chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, salad, dinner roll, dessert and beverage. There will also be a book fair, white elephant holiday presale and other sales during the dinner.

HELP FOR GRIEVING AT HOLIDAY TIME: “Surviving the Holidays,” a special seminar, remembrance service and cookie reception for families that have experienced the death of a loved one, will be held Sunday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 5015 S. 80th St. in Ralston. Starting at 2 p.m., the event is open to the public, and admission is free. Register by calling the Messiah office at 331-5510; however, walk-ins are welcome.

CHURCH WOMEN MEETING: Church Women United will celebrate World Community Day at its meeting on Tuesday. The theme for the event at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, 2650 Farnam St., is “Piecing Earth Together.” It is open to the public, and there is no fee. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m.

ORGANISTS HOLIDAY PROGRAM: The annual Omaha Chapter — American Guild of Organists Advent/Christmas Program will be Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. at First Central Congregational Church, 36th and Harney Streets. A reception will follow the program. The event is free and open to the public.
