Men's Soccer: Bruins advance to second round

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Graeme Eaglesham and Mark Heath-Preston scored second-half goals as the Bellevue University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Bethel (Ind.) College in the NAIA national championship opening round Saturday.

Bellevue (14-3-1) advances to the championship final site in Fresno, Calif. The second round of the tournament starts Nov. 30.

The win also marked the Bruins' fourth-straight shutout of the season.

Eaglesham scored eight minutes into the second half off a pass from Heath-Preston, and Heath-Preston scored unassisted just 40 seconds later to put the Bruins up 2-0.

Bethel (18-1-1) outshot Bellevue 18-14 and held an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Sebastian Narvaez recorded his sixth shutout of the season for Bellevue, collecting eight saves in the win.

The pairings for the second round will be announced today.
