8 teen arrested in 2 burglaries

Police arrested eight teenagers Monday afternoon in two separate burglaries.

The first happened just before 1:30 p.m. near 52nd Street and Bauman Avenue when police were called to a home for a burglary in progress. Officers saw five boys, ranging in age from 14 to 17 years old, running from the home.

Police caught them and took them to the Douglas Center Youth Center. They were all arrested on suspicion of burglary, and one also was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

The second incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. near 37th Street and Grand Avenue when officers were called to a house where three teenagers were trying to break into a home. A 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were all arrested and taken to the youth center.
