LINCOLN (AP) — The state is placing a county-owned nursing home in Lincoln on probation after finding problems with patient care.
Among the shortcomings, a state Health and Human Services team found that Lancaster Manor failed to protect residents from accidents. Investigators also found that nursing home staff failed to treat repeated injuries of one resident and attend to the personal hygiene needs of two others.
The investigations were conducted on behalf of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
A 90-day probation period begins Saturday. Federal officials also will deny payment for any new Medicare or Medicaid patients until corrections are made.
County officials say they are moving swiftly to fix the problems.
