Award-winning country music star Randy Travis will be the featured entertainer at the 2010 Cattlemen's Ball on June 4 and 5 at the Norris and Lori Marshall acreage southwest of Kearney.
The Travis concert will be on the night of June 5. It will be preceded by a prime rib dinner, dance, craft fair, fashion show, wine tasting and silent auction. A dance will follow the concert.
A $65 Top Hand ticket provides admission to the events, which start at 1 p.m.
A $300 Trail Boss ticket also will include a reception the night of June 4, a champagne brunch the morning of June 5 and several other benefits.
Event organizers are promoting the tickets as a great holiday gift.
"You don't have to be a farmer or rancher to attend this event. And you can wear jeans, shorts or whatever makes you comfortable," Norris Marshall said. "This is one of Nebraska's biggest celebrations. Everyone is invited next June."
The Cattlemen's Ball is hosted by a different Nebraska ranch or feedlot every year. Its missions are to raise money for cancer research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Eppley Cancer Center, showcase rural Nebraska and promote beef as part of a healthy diet.
Since its inception, the ball has raised more than $3.7 million, with 90 percent of the proceeds going to cancer research and 10 percent distributed as grants to area towns for health or medical needs.
Travis has sold more than 25 million records. He's had 22 No. 1 hits and six No. 1 albums during a career that has been honored with six Grammy awards, seven Dove awards, six Country Music Association awards, 10 American Music Awards, nine Academy of Country Music awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Travis also has acted in several television shows and films.
