The Westside Community Schools has scheduled its school board caucus for Feb. 23 at Westside High School from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The school district's caucus, unique in Nebraska, will select candidates to advance to the May general election.
Ballots also will be available at the high school from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day of the caucus. In case of inclement weather, the caucus will be Feb. 25.
Two seats on the board, those currently held by Scott Hazelrigg and Ed May, will be up for election. Candidates must declare their intent to run in writing at the superintendent's office by Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.
Hazelrigg already has announced that he will seek re-election. May has said that he will not. — Julie Anderson
