NU vs. CU: What they said

“I'm disappointed in our effort and how we played. I'm happy we won the football game, (but) I don't like the way our football team played in any phase of the game ... I thought we took a step back today.”

    — NU coach Bo Pelini

“It was average, at best. I think we were playing hard, but we made a lot of mistakes that we shouldn't have allowed. It was a collective thing. Small plays where we were right there, and we didn't do it.”

    — NU defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on the defense

“We're still waiting to see our best ball.”

    — NU center Jacob Hickman on the offensive line

“The offensive line did a tremendous job. They were really firing away up front.”

    — NU I-back Rex Burkhead on the offensive line

“I think we did a good job with that. (Suh) is definitely a great player, but we came out with the attitude of ‘don't let people tell you he's superhuman.'”

    — CU left guard Mike Iltis on NU's Suh

“I feel bad for the guy (Goodman). He works hard, tries hard ... but we've got to figure out a way to make more of these things.”

    — CU coach Dan Hawkins on his kicker, Aric Goodman, and two missed field goals

“That is their game plan. They keep running and running until the defense wears. Then they start to hit gaps. Guys start getting out of their assignments. They did a good job with that.”

    — CU senior linebacker Marcus Burton on NU's offense

“I think our defense played well most of the game. But I think it's tough when you don't answer on offense; you lose a little momentum there.”

    — Hawkins on CU's defense
