GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — Three Nebraska landmarks are vying for votes as part of a program dedicated to preserving America's historical, fun and cultural landmarks.
Grand Island's Stuhr Museum, Alliance's Carhenge and the Strategic Air & Space Museum in Ashland are competing in the online Save a Landmark program.
Hampton Hotels is behind the effort, which will bring volunteers to the winning site to complete a preservation project.
Since launching in 2000, the program has provided thousands of hours and more than $2 million toward the research and preservation of roadside landmarks.
To vote, visit www.hamptonlandmarks.com and click on “Save a Landmark.”
The winner will be announced Dec. 7.
