Youth rehab center official retires

KEARNEY — The facility administrator for the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney is retiring.

Tim O'Dea is stepping down Monday after 16 years on the job.

O'Dea began his career at what was then the Youth Development Center in 1970. From then until 1976, he served as a recreation aide, basic education teacher, cottage counselor, youth caseworker and recreation director. He left in 1978 to become a school counselor at Pleasanton Public School, where he later became the principal.

O'Dea returned to the Kearney youth center in 1988 and served as principal until he became facility administrator in 1993. — AP
