A semi truck struck a go-cart near Clarinda, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon, killing both occupants of the cart. One of the dead was 16 years old, the other 29, both female.
The Iowa State Patrol had not released any other information about those involved as of Saturday evening, pending notification of their loved ones.
According to the preliminary crash report, this is what the patrol said happened:
The semi was northbound on Q Avenue near 200th Street -- just northwest of town -- about 2:50 p.m. when a go-cart rolled out of a residential drive and turned around in front of the semi. The truck hit the go cart, killing both of its occupants.
