Peru State professor’s poetry book published

Pudding House Publications, a literary small press, will publish “Brought Back Safely,” a book of poetry by Tammy Trucks-Bordeaux, in 2010.

Trucks-Bordeaux is an assistant professor of English at Peru State College.

Pudding House’s acceptance means Trucks-Bordeaux’s collection will be nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize. Her work also will be on view at the annual Spring Showcase at Poets House in New York City.

North Platte author’s signing rescheduled

The book signing for Keith Blackledge’s “That Town Fights About Everything” has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Da Buzz Coffee Cafe in North Platte, Neb.

The book by the former writer, columnist and editor at the North Platte Telegraph is a sequel to his “A Short History of North Platte.”

Lunch session topic: ‘Good Books to Give’

Vicki Wood, youth services supervisor of the Lincoln City Libraries, will present the next Brown Bag series program at the Bennett Martin Public Library, 14th and N Streets in Lincoln, on Wednesday.

“Good Books to Give as Gifts” will be the topic of her talk, which will start at 12:10 p.m. in the fourth-floor auditorium.

The public is invited to the free program. People can bring sack lunches. Coffee will be provided.

Two presentations about food movement

Lincoln author Steven McFadden will present “Growing the Food Movement” twice this week: at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Crescent Moon Coffeehouse, 816 P St. in Lincoln, and at 4 p.m. Saturday at Soul Desires Bookstore in the Old Market, 1026 Jackson St.

He will read from his new book, “The Call of the Land: An Agrarian Primer for the 21st Century.”
