Illness makes it hard to make rent

She was off work with a staph infection. The infection grew more serious, and she was hospitalized, missing even more work. Her sick days were exhausted, and she applied for short-term disability. She was able to come up with half of her rent payment but needed assistance with the rest. Goodfellows was there to pay $400 toward her rent so she didn’t fall further behind. The World-Herald’s charity also funds eye care for the homeless, clothing for needy schoolchildren and food certificates during the holidays.
