KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded more than $520,000 to help fund a Wayne, Neb., wastewater treatment plant project.
A news release from the EPA says the northeast Nebraska city's 25-year-old facility continues to draw complaints about odor. The new treatment plant will address those concerns.
Construction on the $8 million project is slated to begin in July. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2011.
Garry Poutre, Wayne's utilities and public works superintendent, says the new plant will operate more efficiently and produce less sludge.
