South Dakota scouting report: Through three games, Amber Hegge leads the team with 42 points, 21 rebounds and 13 assists. The two-time Nebraska prep athlete of the year from Crofton redshirted last year. ... The Coyotes also start Jasmine Mosley, a senior from Bellevue East who played in high school with Nebraska guard Vonnie Turner. Hegge and Mosley are two of four Coyotes who play at least 30 minutes a game. ... South Dakota is shooting just 29.8 percent from 3-point range. But Abby Kinder and guard Sam Mehr have made 13 of their 29 3-pointers. ... The Coyotes trailed Wichita State by 17 points Sunday, but cut the deficit to one in the final minute. They lost 65-60.
NU scouting report: Averaging 12.8 points during her first four games, Kelsey Griffin has doubled her output in the past two. The talented forward tallied 27 and 28 points in back-to-back games last weekend. ... Baylor is the only Big 12 team that has shot more free throws than Nebraska. The Huskers are making 66.9 percent of their foul shots. ... Nebraska is averaging 83.3 points per game, 21 more than last season. ... Just two teams, Davidson and Saint Mary’s, have shot better than 40 percent from the field against NU.
Opening tips: Nebraska leads the all-time series with the Coyotes 8-1, though the teams haven’t met since 1984.
