LINCOLN -- For a second time, the Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by an Omaha man sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing death of an 87-year-old woman.
The Supreme Court on Friday affirmed the convictions of Daryle M. Duncan, who was found guilty of first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony in the Dec. 4, 1999 slaying of Lucille Bennett in her home.
The court on Friday rejected Duncan's latest appeal, that he had ineffective defense counsel.
Duncan was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and 19 to 20 years’ imprisonment for use of a deadly weapon.
