Supper with Santa at the Henry Doorly Zoo: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 18-20. Enjoy supper, crafts and pictures with Santa. Registration is $15 per person, but ages 2 and younger are free. Space is limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Make reservations at 738-2092.

Visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus: 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Saturday and Dec. 19 at the Omaha Children's Museum, 500 S. 20th St. Children can visit with the couple. Cameras are welcome for families to take their own photos. Regular admission applies. Trees for Troops in Bennington: Today through Sunday at Bennington Pines Tree Farm, Nebraska Highway 36 and 165th Street. Community members select a tree for $25 that includes $5 for FedEx shipping and write a personal message to the troops. Tree donors also may register online at http://www.benningtonpines.com. Trees go to U.S. troops worldwide and their families. Trees for Troops is sponsored by the Christmas Spirit Foundation and FedEx Corp.

Annual Christmas Vespers Service at Northwestern College: 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. College choirs, orchestra, brass and chime ensembles will perform carols, Christmas musical selections and readings. The event is free and open to the public in Christ Chapel on the campus in Orange City, Iowa.

Holiday concert in North Platte: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald-Belton Theater on the south campus of Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, Neb. The concert will feature the college choir and jazz band, plus an exhibit of art students' work.

2009 Festival of Trees at Wayne State College: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday the Student Center atrium in Wayne, Neb. Campus and community members are invited to view the trees and to vote for favorites via cash donation buckets. All donations will go toward buying gifts for needy children in Wayne County.

Ollie's One Stop Shopping at the Center: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Center, 42nd and Center Streets, second floor. All items $6 with new merchandise for women, men, boys and girls. Proceeds benefit Ollie Webb Center Inc., a local nonprofit serving people with developmental disabilities.

Gingerbread house display, contest and silent auction at Regency Lodge: Monday through Dec. 18. PRIDE Prevention Elves delivered gingerbread house supplies to area schools in seven districts. The schools created houses promoting the theme “A Safe, Drug-Free Holiday.” The houses will be on display at Regency Lodge, 909 S. 107th Ave. Entries will be judged in multiple categories, and cash prizes will be awarded to the schools for future drug prevention programs. The houses will be up for silent auction while they are on display. Winning bidders will be notified Dec. 19.

Fourth annual Cocoa and Carols at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City: 7 p.m. Sunday in the Stark Student Center on the Sioux City, Iowa, campus. The holiday entertainment, free and open to the public, is presented by the department of music.

Historic Homes for the Holidays tour in Council Bluffs: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at five Bluffs homes, sponsored by the Council Bluffs Historic Preservation Alliance. Homes are at 203 Fifth Ave., 528 Clark Ave., 200 Park Ave., 211 Park Ave., and 223 Park Ave. The German Bier Haus, 142 West Broadway, will host a reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. after the tours. Tickets are $15 a person or two for $25 and may be purchased at any of the houses on the tour.

Shopping with Santa, a Children's Shopping Mall, in Valley: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Hall (old bowling alley) in downtown Valley. Children ages 4 through fourth-grade can shop for their parents and siblings. All presents are 50 cents or less, with free gift wrapping. Visit with Santa. Parents must wait in the lobby. Santa's elves help younger shoppers.
