PECULIAR CALL
Fourth-and-1 at the Texas 32 on Nebraska's opening drive generated the night's first controversial call. Originally, officials marked Rex Burkhead just short of the 31-yard line — about one foot shy of the first-down mark. Then the play was reviewed and officials ruled that Burkhead crossed the 31. It's rare in college football to change a spot, especially when there didn't appear to be conclusive evidence. Alex Henery kicked a 45-yard field goal three plays later.
WHAT WAS THAT?
Zac Lee's two deep balls in the first half, which were intercepted. Lee has shown the ability to connect deep most of the season, but these passes were way off target. The first acted as a punt; no harm done. But the second, coming off a Texas turnover, ruined a great scoring chance.
NOTICED
Ndamukong Suh blocking for Burkhead on fourth-and-1 on Nebraska's opening drive. The Huskers hadn't used Suh on offense all season. How'd the big man do? Not great, but slippery Burkhead managed a first down anyway. Suh entered the game again in the fourth quarter, when NU had the ball inside the Texas 10.
RAVE REVIEW
Nebraska's secondary. Alfonzo Dennard and Prince Amukamara denied almost everything on the outside. Larry Asante and Matt O'Hanlon played with aggression and fury. Yes, there were a few costly pass-interference calls, but those are small blemishes against a dynamic pass offense.
