BMX bikes to race at Hefflinger Park
Just another week to go before the Jack Frost BMX Race brings the two- wheelers and their drivers to Omaha.
Sign-ups will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 with race time at 3 p.m., weather permitting.
OmahaBMX will have the race at the BMX track at Hefflinger Park, 112th Street and West Maple Road.
Workshop teaches writing as stress relief
Using writing to explore the holiday season can bring a sense of peace and calm during times that can feel hectic, sad or uncertain.
A workshop, “Writing for Renewal & Growth,” will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Center for Counseling & Psychotherapy, 8021 Chicago St. David Martin, editor of Fine Lines, and Julie Luzarraga, a licensed clinical social worker, will present the workshop.

Nebraska teens sign Safe Driver Pledge
Fourteen Nebraska high schools are among more than 400 schools nationwide participating in the Teen Safe Driver Pledge. It's an online driver-safety agreement between parents and teenage drivers that establishes safe driving expectations.
By participating in the program, schools earn a $900 prize from sponsor American Family Insurance and are in the running for larger cash prizes — up to $25,000 — based on each school's participation rate.
The Nebraska high schools participating are Alliance, Amherst, Chadron, Columbus, Gering, Holdrege, Lincoln Lutheran, Madison, Nebraska City, Nebraska City Lourdes, Omaha Burke, Pleasanton, Schuyler Central and Wayne.

Workshop to teach collaborative divorce
Learn about collaborative divorce from a family counselor, financial adviser and attorney.
Join them Dec. 12 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Cost: $20 for individuals, $25 for two people. Fees cover workshop expenses.

Realtors will explain homebuyer tax credit
The expanded Home Buyer Tax Credit can be confusing. Learn all the details at a free class at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Realtors Leann and Scott Yahnke will explain the tax credit program at the CBSHome office, 3507 N. 147th St.
This meeting is for existing homeowners who may be eligible for a $6,500 tax credit for new home construction. Prospective first-time homebuyers, still eligible for an $8,000 credit, also are encouraged to attend to have their questions addressed.
