Three Gilmore City, Iowa, residents were injured Monday when a pickup collided with a semi just south of Corning, Iowa, the Iowa State Patrol said.
Two of the injured, identified as 44-year-old Rod Shelgren and 71-year-old Edward Shelgren, were flown to Creighton University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said. Their condition was not available Monday night.
The third injured person, 11-year-old Brady Shelgren, was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was in serious condition late Monday, a hospital spokesman said.
The collision occurred about 5 p.m., at the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and Iowa Highway 148. Rod Shelgren had been driving a 1999 GMC Sierra north on Highway 148 and pulled out into the intersection in front of the semi, which had been traveling east on Highway 34, the Patrol said. The semi crashed into the driver’s side of the pickup.
None wore a seat belt, according to the Patrol.
