Robbers sought pain pills

The Walgreens at 5038 Center St. was the site of two attempted robberies early Sunday morning by men who both demanded prescription pain killers.

Omaha police arrested three people Sunday in four separate business robberies, including the attempted robberies at the Walgreens on Center.

In the first robbery attempt at Walgreens, a man approached a pharmacist about 3:30 a.m., showed a gun and demanded prescription pain pills. The man took off when he saw some other employees and didn't get any pills or money.

About 6 a.m. a different man came into the same Walgreens , showed a weapon and demanded pain pills. He didn't get any and took off running but was arrested by an officer in the area who saw him running from the store. A BB gun was found outside the store.

Two men, ages 25 and 52, were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery in connection with the first attempt at Walgreens and on suspicion of two counts of robbery in connection with two other incidents. Police believe those two men also robbed Night Flight Pizza, 4636 Dodge St. , on Saturday night and G's Mini Mart, 5216 N. 16th St., on Sunday night.

In connection with the second robbery attempt at Walgreens, police arrested a 32-year-old Papillion man on suspicion of attempted robbery and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
