NEW HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) — A New Hampton man has been injured in a hunting accident when he was shot in the back by another hunter.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 48-year-old Lynn Pacovsky was field dressing a deer on the edge of a cornfield in Chickasaw County when he was shot Sunday afternoon.
Officials with the agency say 34-year-old Brian Tenge of Mount Auburn fired at a running deer but missed, striking Pacovsky in the back.
Pacovsky was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
