Iowan arrested in online enticement

A La Vista police investigation led to the arrest Monday of a northern Iowa man on suspicion of online enticement.

The Titonka, Iowa, man thought he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl but was actually online with a detective from La Vista’s Internet crimes against children unit, La Vista Police Chief Bob Lausten said.

The man was identified as a Titonka utilities superintendent and an IT manager for the Titonka Consolidated School District.

During the past two months, in numerous online chat sessions, the suspect sought sexual favors, and sent video of himself masturbating, Lausten said.

The suspect was online with an undercover La Vista detective Monday when officers knocked on his door, Lausten said. Agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation helped with the arrest.

The man was taken to the Kossuth County Jail in Algona, Iowa, and was expected to be extradited to Sarpy County.

Titonka is about 50 miles west of Mason City.
