Rural accident kills 1, injures 1

A two-vehicle crash in rural Lancaster County killed a Loup City, Neb., man late Wednesday afternoon. Another person involved was flown by helicopter to a Lincoln hospital.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office:

David J. Woitalewicz, 44, was driving a 1993 GMC Sierra north on 68th Street between the Roca and Wittstruck Roads when he collided with a southbound 1992 Ford Explorer driven by Larry D. Glabe, 63, of Hickman. The crash occured in the northbound lanes about 4:30 p.m.

Woitalewicz, the only occupant of his truck, was ponounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Glabe, also the only occupant of his vehicle, was flown to BryanLGH Medical Center, and later listed in critical condition. Glabe had been wearing his seat belt.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate.
