WAYNE, Neb. — UNO senior Heather Minssen set a school record in the shot put Saturday to highlight the UNO indoor track and field team's performance at Wayne State's Wildcat Invitational.
Minssen threw 48 feet, 1¼ inches to break the record of 47 feet, ¼ inch set by Theresa Williams in 1997. The throw also made her an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II national meet, and it was the best mark of the Division II season.
Maverick sprinter Molly Belling returned to the track after missing the last two years due to injury to win the 55-meter dash in a meet-record time of 7.33 seconds. UNO's Kayla Murphy won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.70, just ahead of teammate Jody-Ann Coore (8.76).
