WISNER, Neb. — A fire that gutted two businesses in Wisner early Friday morning is under investigation.
The two buildings involved are along the north side of U.S. Highway 275 and house the Son Shine Shoppe and NE Nebraska Vet Services. An upstairs apartment was vacant. The store was also a drop-off and pick-up site for a dry cleaning service.
The fire alarm sounded at 12:23 a.m., according to Keri Moeller, who owns Mane Street Salon next to the damaged buildings. It received some smoke damage.
The orange glow of the fire could be seen several miles from town, she said, and when she and her husband arrived in Wisner, “fire crews were rolling in.”
The contents of the burned buildings appeared to be a total loss.
Tara Taylor of Wisner said that her family's clothing from her sister Tiffany Beckman's wedding, including her sister's wedding gown, were lost in the fire.
The West Point aerial fire crew helped fight the blaze.
The fire remains under investigation, Wisner Fire Chief Wade Eisenhower said Friday.
