LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- The Nebraska Court of Appeals has rejected one farmer's claim on a failed grain elevator's assets.
In a decision released Tuesday, the court said James Mayfield didn't prove his claim to grain stored with Alvo Grain and Feed Inc.
The Alvo company voluntarily surrendered its grain warehouse license in 2008. State officials sold the remaining grain, using the proceeds to pay farmers' claims after the company filed bankruptcy.
Mayfield's was the final pending Alvo claim. If Mayfield does not appeal, the $68,000 state officials set aside for his case will be distributed to Alvo's creditors by the bankruptcy court.
Earlier this year, more than $1 million was distributed to 39 people who had grain stored with Alvo when it failed to cover part of their losses.
