A 37-year-old man was killed Monday when the SUV he drove collided with a semi that jack-knifed on a slick Nebraska Highway 92 east of Wahoo, Neb., the Saunders County sheriff said.
Authorities today identified the man as Mark Wagner of rural Wahoo.
Two others were hurt in the collision, including the semi driver. The other person injured was the driver of a second passenger vehicle the semi collided with, Stukenholtz said. The two were treated at Saunders Medical Center and released, he said.
The crash occurred about 6 p.m., about two and a half miles east of Wahoo.
The semi had been traveling east when it jack-knifed and collided with the SUV and the car, both of which were westbound, the sheriff said.
He said the roadway "was extremely slick" and contributed to the crash.
About the same time, two other vehicles collided nearby . That crash was not related to the fatal collision, Stukenholtz said. One person was injured in the second crash and also was treated at the Saunders County hospital and released, Stukenholtz said.
The Nebraska State Patrol was helping with the investigation, which continued late Monday.
