9:40 a.m.: Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe knows that the Big Ten's announcement that it will study the possibility of adding a 12th team will stir widespread speculation.
But he won't engage in it.
“There has been nothing communicated to me by a member institution indicating a desire to consider membership in another athletics conference,'' Beebe said.
Missouri issued a statement saying it would listen if the Big Ten wanted to talk. But that's not really news. Any school would listen if approached. If someone makes an invitation, that's when things get serious.
Don't get swallowed up in the talking head hyperbole over this.
