Iowa crash sends two to hospital

An early morning collision landed two southwest Iowa men in the hospital.

Just before 1 a.m. today, Hastings, Iowa, resident Ronald Klinker, 71, was headed in the wrong direction in the eastbound lane of Highway 34 in Mills County, according to a report from the Mills County Sheriff’s Office. Gaylen Terry, 54, was also in the eastbound lane, but he was driving east.

The two men, Klinker driving a Chevy Silverado and Terry driving a Chevy Colorado, collided.

Klinker was taken to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs where he was treated and released, hospital spokesman Ed Rider said.

Terry was taken to Creighton University Medical Center.

Both of the trucks had to be towed from the scene.

No tickets have been issued. The accident is under investigation.
