FARRAGUT — Donations for renovating the Farragut Cemetery have passed the $10,000 mark.

Plans to beautify the cemetery have been under way for three years.

Seed money for the various tasks, including installation of brick columns, iron fence sections and signage, was gathered. However, private donations are needed to ensure that the $30,000 project is completed.

The four-person Cemetery Board has been leading fundraising efforts.

“The donations they have been working on have had an excellent return,” said Farragut City Clerk Becki Sickman. “So far, more than $10,000 has been received.”

Sickman also said board members are applying for grants to help with the replacement of the cemetery cannon’s base.
