Examine your roots in genealogy classes
Here's the chance to trace your roots.
The Omaha Public Library and the Greater Omaha Genealogical Society will offer genealogy classes from January through June. Learn to analyze family records and census data, handle courthouse research, locate online records and more.
Workshops will be the third Saturday of each month at the Mormon Trail Center, 3215 State St. Visit www.gogsmembers.wordpress.com/ for more information.

Dance line starts here
Learn to contra dance at tonight's ContraDance Omaha event.
All dances will be taught and called to live music by Rivertown String Band and Friends from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Seymour Elementary School gym, 4900 S. 79th St. in Ralston.
Contra dances have patterns similar to square dances but are done in long lines. Dancers of all ages and abilities, singles and families, are welcome. Kate McBride will be the caller.
The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for students and children older than 12.
Science fair focuses on deaf students
A national science fair sponsored by the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology is a competition just for students with hearing loss.
The National Science Fair for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students is for students in grades six through 12.
To qualify, a student must submit an entry form and a 250-word science project summary. Judges will choose finalists in middle school and high school divisions. The finalists will be invited to attend the science fair March 26-28 at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester.

Play games from '60s
A special afternoon of yo-yos, checkers, Hula-Hoops and Pick Up Sticks awaits students who sign up for Games Grandma and Grandpa Played, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Stuhr Museum. The event will take place in the Stuhr Building at the Grand Island, Neb., museum.
This activity, intended for those in second grade and older, will include unplugged, imaginative playtime with games popular 50 years ago. Participants will be led in Wahoo, dominoes, Concentration, Go Fish and more.
Kids will leave with a bag of items including a deck of cards, a yo-yo and tangram patterns.
