Omaha stories

Jennifer Castello will read from and sign copies of her book “The Messiah of Howard Street” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Pizza Shoppe Collective, 6056 Maple St.

The book is a collection of short stories about growing up in Omaha. The stories also provide a look at how Omaha has changed through the years.

Artists Lash LaRue and Scott Severin also will be at the event, which is free and open to the public.

Donations will be collected for the Pine Ridge toy drive.

College centennial

Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., will celebrate its centennial in 2010. A book commemorating that milestone is available. “Wayne State College 100: 1910-2010” is $54.95. Contact the Wayne State Alumni office for information on how to purchase the book.
