CLARINDA, Iowa — Three people were injured after the driver of a pickup reportedly swerved to miss a deer Sunday morning.

According to the Page County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Tillman, 29, of Northboro, Iowa, was driving his Ford F350 eastbound on 310th Street about 2 a.m. He told deputies that he swerved to miss a deer and went into the ditch. The pickup rolled and came to rest on its top.

Tillman, passengers Jesse Coleman, 29, of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Bailey Hilger, 28, of Essex, Iowa, were transported by Shenandoah Fire and Rescue to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Tillman was cited for failure to maintain control and operation of an unregistered vehicle. The accident remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
