Lindsay reports earnings up

Fiscal first-quarter revenue at Omaha-based Lindsay Corp. fell, but earnings rose, the company said Tuesday. Revenue for the quarter ending Nov. 30 dropped 24 percent from $113 million a year ago to $85.9 million this year. Profit, however, was up, at $6.7 million or 53 cents per share, compared with $6.3 million and 51 cents a share the previous year. The company said irrigation revenues declined but sales of infrastructure and road safety materials increased 20 percent.

Berkshire adds Comcast exec to board

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. has added Stephen Burke, chief operating officer of cable television company Comcast Corp., to its board of directors. Burke, 51, “is business-savvy, owner-oriented and keenly interested in Berkshire,” Warren Buffett, Berkshire's chief executive, said Tuesday.
