Omaha DJ Brent Crampton offered tips for selecting New Year’s Eve songs for house parties. Here’s what he had to say:
“Select music that mirrors your company and brings out the festivities of the moment.”
If you’re going to select music, line it up in a sequential playlist. Create peaks and valleys in the energy of the music with a gradual incline that climaxes at midnight. Be prepared with a countdown track or some ritual where you lead everyone into the new year. And be sure your clock is set to the right time.
“The (most) important track of the night will be the one that plays right after the ball drops,” Crampton said. “Make it something anthemic, lots of energy and some New Year’s theme in the music, such as Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time.’”
Crampton is spinning jams at Slowdown next Thursday for Goo New Year’s Masquerade. But if he was going to DJ a house party in Omaha, below is a list of 10 tracks that he knows would ignite the floor.
