Roof caves in, utilities shut off

The partial collapse of a north Omaha storage warehouse caused water and natural gas leaks this morning.

The roof of the Cargo Zone, 6200 N. 16th St., caved in and damaged gas and sprinkler lines about 9 a.m., said Mari Matulka, a Metropolitan Utilities District spokeswoman. No one was inside at the time.

According to emergency dispatchers, heavy streams of water poured into surrounding streets. MUD was contacted and shut off gas and water to the building, Matulka said. -- Joel Fulton
