Serbian pianist joins conservatory faculty
Pianist Boban Martic has joined the faculty of the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
Martic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, holds a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
While there, he served as pianist Mark Clinton’s studio assistant, the highest teaching responsibility given to a doctoral student. Martic has performed in master classes for such renowned pianists as Claude Frank and Paul Gulda. An item last Sunday incorrectly named the school.
Nebraska Arts Council sets workshops
The Nebraska Arts Council will conduct several informational sessions in January leading up to the March 1 Project Grant deadline. There is no charge for admission to the workshops. Preregistration is recommended.
NAC also is offering an evening call-in session for those who are unable to attend a walk-in session. Those interested in the call-in session are asked to register in advance with the NAC. Prior to the call-in session date, the council will provide the conference call number and related materials.
The following is a list of upcoming workshop locations and dates: 5 p.m. Jan. 19 at the NAC,1004 Farnam St., Omaha; 5 p.m. Jan. 19 at Museum of Nebraska Art, 2401 Central Ave., Kearney; 5 p.m. Jan. 20, Skinner Magnet Center, 4304 N. 33rd St., Omaha; noon, Jan. 21 at Lincoln Arts Council, 920 O St., Lincoln.
