Things could have gone worse at a west Omaha sandwich shop.
The person who broke into the business over the Christmas holiday overlooked a bag of money.
Instead, the burglar made off with several cash registers and whatever was inside the safe from Gandolfo’s New York Deli, 17650 Wright St.
The burglary occurred sometime between Thursday and Saturday, when someone broke in through a back door and stole an undetermined amount of cash.
The safe had been broken into before and was not secured, according to an Omaha police report.
But the thief, who hasn’t yet been caught, apparently didn’t see the deposit bag sitting on a desk.
