Meetings will discuss local food systems
Growers and producers are invited to two Jan. 6 sessions at Four Brothers Restaurant in Le Mars, Iowa.
Iowa State University Extension will offer no-cost training on a local food systems initiative and a meeting on planning for the proposed Upper Missouri Valley Co-op.
The first meeting will be at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation by Jerry DeWitt, director of the Leopold Center, on “What is a local food system?” Discussion and questions will follow.
The second meeting will be at 7 p.m. on the proposed Tri-State regional grower cooperative. Angela Jackson and DeWitt will share information on this effort. This project includes growers and supporters within the Northwest Iowa Regional Food System Working Group.

Nominations sought for community award
Nominations are being accepted until Jan. 18 for the Community Ambassador Award to be given at the second annual Bellevue Police Recognition Banquet.
Nominees must be Bellevue residents or businesses that have made an outstanding contribution to the safety and wellness of Bellevue or to the Bellevue Police Community Foundation through volunteerism, philanthropy or both.
Nominations should be a half-page to one page and include the business or individual's contributions, philanthropic community involvement and the estimated number of volunteer hours and resources contributed.

The Community Ambassador award will be part of the ceremony at the Bellevue Police Department Recognition Dinner, scheduled Feb. 6 at the View in Bellevue. Tickets and sponsorships are available.
