New Year’s Day closings

Government offices and other public services will follow these schedules on Friday in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday:

Offices and courts: Federal, state, county and city offices, as well as public utilities and all courts, will be closed. (State courts in Iowa also will be closed Thursday for a furlough day.)

Mail: No delivery.

Parking: No coins needed.

Trash collection: Garbage and recyclable pickups will continue in Omaha, where collections have been backed up because of the snow.

Libraries: Closed. (On Thursday, the W. Dale Clark Library will remain open until 8 p.m. for viewing the downtown fireworks display.)

MAT: Buses will not run.

Newspaper: Morning delivery to all World-Herald subscribers.
