Shooting probed near 34th, Ames

By Juan Perez Jr.
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Omaha police said a young man was walking near the intersection of 34th and Ames Avenues when he heard a "pop" and felt something hit his leg.

Investigators, however, are still attempting to determine where the crime scene actually is. Falling snow is quickly burying the area, and potentially some evidence.

The shooting victim, 17, was taken to Creighton University Medical Center with injuries police do not consider life-threatening.

Police are interviewing several witnesses.
