Omaha police want the public to be on the lookout for a 49-year-old convicted sex offender who walked away from a halfway house.
Donald H. Clifton was believed to be in the Omaha area after his tracking device was removed near downtown in November. He is being sought by the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force.
Clifton served 10 years in prison for attempted rape in Mississippi, and he has a history of violence, escape and drug abuse.
He was wearing a GPS tracking device as part of his probation in Pottawattamie County for theft and failure to register as a sex offender.
Clifton is described as being about 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds and as having brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his back, chest and both arms and a scar on his right elbow.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP (7867), or send a text message beginning “OPD” with your tip to CRIMES (274637), or submit your tip online at Omaha Crime Stoppers.
