Injury screenings for baseball players

To prepare baseball players for a safer season, the Athletes' Training Center is offering free injury screenings for players of all ages.

Athletes and their parents are invited to visit the facility between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday for the screenings. The center is at 138th Street and Industrial Road.

The screenings will help spot potential problems such as those that cause arm injuries: poor throwing mechanics and shoulder muscle imbalance. For more information, go to www.atcomaha.com, call 932-7111 or e-mail info@atcomaha.com.

Downtown Omaha meeting is Thursday

Downtown Omaha Inc. will meet from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Embassy Suites Old Market.

The group will have a networking meeting on Jan. 13. That session will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brandeis Building, 16th and Douglas Streets.

Customer service talk set for Tuesday

Troy Weyhrich of Renegade Work, Western & Weekend of Norfolk, Neb., will discuss how customer service is crucial to a successful business at a Tuesday meeting in Norfolk.

He will speak to the Small Business Council of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce. The noon luncheon meeting will be at Valentino's restaurant in Norfolk. Participants will pay for their own meals.

‘Customer service in a down economy'

Reservations are due by noon Monday for the Jan. 14 meeting of the Midlands chapter of Advancing Productivity, Innovation and Competitive Success.

The operations managers will hear from Brian Turner, vice president and general manager of Distefano Tool & Mfg. Co., who will discuss how to handle short lead times while keeping inventory low. His talk is called “Customer Service in a Down Economy.”

Reservations due for Westerners meeting

Reservations are due today for Thursday evening's dinner meeting of the Omaha Corral of Westerners.

Harl Dalstrom will discuss how standard time came to this area in 1883-84. Dalstrom is a retired University of Nebraska at Omaha professor and a member of the group.

The 6 p.m. gathering will be at Venice Inn, 69th and Pacific Streets. For reservations, call 738-1725.
