AVOCA, Iowa — A Walnut, Iowa, man was killed Thursday in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 80.
The Iowa State Patrol said Lloyd Houston, 52, died in the snow-related crash, which occurred about 3:30 a.m. near mile marker 38 in the eastbound lanes. No other injuries were reported.
Houston was driving a 1985 International dump truck, and the two other vehicles were semitrailer trucks.
Col. Patrick Hoye, chief of the patrol, said preliminary numbers indicated that troopers responded to 16 wrecks across Iowa between midnight Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday.
