PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard is urging the state's congressional delegation to oppose a provision in the U.S. Senate's health care bill benefiting Nebraska.
The provision would provide Nebraska with a break on Medicaid costs that other states still would have to bear. It was included as an incentive for Nebraska Sen. Bill Nelson to support the bill.
Goddard, a Democrat, told delegation members in a letter released Friday that the provision is unfair to his state and others.
Arizona Republican Gov. Jan Brewer also is critical of the provision and had urged Goddard to research its legality.
Goddard aide Greg Stanton says it's premature for Goddard to research a “hypothetical case” because the provision has not been enacted by Congress.
