SHENANDOAH, Iowa — When it came to the City of Shenandoah’s budget for this fiscal year, the motto was, “Hold the line in 2009.” However, with budget concerns still prominent, Mayor Richard Hunt said the motto for this year is “Do it again in 2010.”
“It’s not going to be easy,” Hunt said. “We really don’t know yet what the state is going to pass down to us on cuts.”
Hunt said regardless of the state cuts, city officials will try to retain important city services.
“We’ve just got to keep plugging away,” Hunt said.
The majority of city budgets are due Monday to City Clerk Marcia McKay. No date has been set for the first budget meeting.
