Women can learn how to lead

How to get involved with nonprofit organizations and their boards, what is expected of those who do and how to build a personal network will be among the topics of the “Ready to Serve” workshop on Feb. 2 at Anthony’s, 7220 F St.

The 8:30 a.m.-to-4 p.m. workshop, sponsored by the Women’s Fund of Greater Omaha, will provide participants with basic board training. Workshop presenters will be community leaders who will teach the 10 basic responsibilities of board members, the value of serving, how to develop good leadership skills, how to build confidence and how to build strong partnerships.

“Women’s Fund research showed there is a need for women to learn how to become leaders, and we’re providing opportunities through this program,” said Sara Masters, chairwoman.

Organizers says participants should register early because last year’s workshop sold out. Fees are $125 for individuals and $500 for corporate (five people). Register at www.omahawomensfund.org or by calling 827-9280.
