A Story City, Iowa, woman has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of 3-year-old Spencer Corson.
Amanda K. Porter, 25, of 120 First St., Lot 53, Story City, was arrested Friday afternoon at her home and charged with first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death.
Porter, according to documents obtained by The Ames Tribune, was the girlfriend of Spencer Corson's father, Stuart Corson, at the time of the murder. Spencer Corson was found unresponsive by rescue workers at Porter's mother's house after being in Porter's care. Spencer Corson was pronounced dead June 24, 2008, a day after he was found to be unresponsive at 10 Maple Ave. in Nevada by emergency first responders.
According to Spencer Corson's death certificate, he died as a result of abusive head trauma inflicted by another person.
Spencer Corson's mother, Jessica Rivera, and grandmother, Dianna Rivera-Belle, have kept the case in the public eye since Spencer's death, staging a rally last year at the Story County Justice Center calling for an arrest in the case and vocally indicating Porter as a suspect.
