LINCOLN — U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson says there's plenty of fight left in him.
The Nebraska Democrat, whose job approval rating has dropped below 50 percent, told The World-Herald on Thursday that he expects to seek re-election in two years.
“I can stand the heat, so I'm staying in the kitchen,” Nelson said in an interview.
He added: “I have no plans to hang it up in 2012.”
Nelson, 68, a former governor, is serving his second Senate term.
He has drawn fire since providing the 60th vote in December to win Senate approval of health care legislation.
